About Lower Wisconsin State Riverway
The Wisconsin River flows unimpeded for 92.3 miles from the dam at Prairie du Sac to its confluence with the Mississippi River. Approximately 95,000 acres of land along both banks have been designated as the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway to preserve its natural character.
Three access areas—Blackhawk Ridge/Wisconsin Heights, Sauk County Canoe Landing, and Prairie du Bay—are open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
