About Coulee Experimental State Forest

The Coulee Experimental State Forest is located about 15 miles east of La Crosse in La Crosse County, Wisconsin. It features two main parking areas: the eastern lot, accessible via Highway 162 south from Bangor to County Road II, then right onto the forest road; and the western lot, reached by taking Highway 33 east from La Crosse, north on County Road M, and right onto Russlan Coulee Road just east of Barre Mills. Both parking areas are at the end of their respective roads.

Unlike other state forests, no vehicle entrance sticker or state trail pass is required for visitation. However, hunting is permitted and subject to standard hunting license fees.
