About Frontier Homestead State Park and Museum
Frontier Homestead State Park and Museum preserves the pioneer and early industrial history of Cedar City and Iron County, Utah, beginning with the 1850s mission sent by Brigham Young to mine and process iron. The museum features a collection of horse-drawn wagons and farm equipment from 1850 to 1920, pioneer artifacts, and the only known surviving artifact from the original iron foundry—the town bell. Historic structures include several original cabins and the Hunter House, Cedar City’s oldest remaining brick home.
The site also includes a Native Heritage exhibit, a replica blast furnace, and a sawmill, illustrating the region’s early industry and settlement. Rotating special exhibits showcase local artists and rare items from the museum’s collections, while seasonal interpretive programs such as Sheep-to-Shawl and Iron Mission Days offer hands-on experiences tied to the area’s heritage.
