About Fremont Indian State Park and Museum

During the construction of Interstate 70, the largest known Fremont Ancestor village was uncovered, revealing artifacts, petroglyphs, and pictographs left by the Fremont Culture. The museum preserves a collection of items from the site, including pottery, baskets, and arrowheads, offering insight into the daily life and traditions of this ancient people.

The park features hiking trails and two nearby campgrounds—Castle Rock and Sam Stowe—and is designated an International Dark Sky Park, recognized for its efforts to protect and preserve natural night skies.
