About Mongold (Detroit Lake)
Mongold Day-use Area, located 1.5 miles west of Detroit Lake State Park, is the only public boat launch site on the lake. It features a swimming area with a grass beach, picnic facilities, and restrooms. The site offers 58 standard parking spaces and three accessible spaces near the swimming area, plus an additional 25 standard spaces and 120 vehicle/trailer spaces, including three accessible spots, at the upper lot.
A life jacket loaner station is available on-site with various sizes, and visitors are advised to ensure proper fit and wear life jackets due to hidden underwater obstructions. Boaters should check the Oregon State Marine Board’s Reported Obstructions and Alerts page for current hazards. Water levels can be monitored via the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Willamette Valley website.
