About Crissey Field State Recreation Site
Perched between the California border and the Winchuck River, this 40-acre park features a sandy beach, wetlands, and a small stand of mature trees. The Welcome Center incorporates sustainable design, including solar panels that generate up to 20,000 kilowatt-hours annually for the Coos-Curry Electric Co-op and passive heating and cooling from the earth to regulate interior temperatures. Water and lighting systems are timed to minimize waste while serving visitors.
The center provides service and beach access to residents from Gold Beach, Oregon, to Crescent City, California, offering a quiet, natural setting for recreation and coastal observation.
