About Lewis & Clark State Park

Lewis and Clark State Park is located on an upper bay of Lake Sakakawea, featuring miles of shoreline with views of towering buttes and rolling hills. The park encompasses a large native mixed-grass prairie and unique geological formations, accessible via a self-guided nature trail. A day-use beach and swimming area are situated along the east shore of the campground, and kayak, canoe, stand-up paddleboard, fat tire bike, and snowshoe rentals are available. When water levels permit, boating facilities including a marina with slip rentals and boat ramps are operational. Fishing for walleye, sauger, and northern pike is popular.

The park offers two seasonal camping cabins, Scoria and Flint, located in the Siltstone Loop campground along the lake’s edge. The Scoria cabin is the only accessible cabin in the park. Each cabin is a one-room unit with air conditioning, a small refrigerator, one full bed, and three twin beds arranged bunk-style, accommodating up to five guests. A two-night minimum stay is required, with nightly rates between $70 and $85.
