About Tall Pines State Preserve

Tall Pines State Preserve, established in June 2016 as Gloucester County’s first state park, was formerly a golf course abandoned in 2006. During its years of neglect, the land was left undisturbed, allowing native trees and vegetation to reclaim the area and largely erase traces of its former use.

The preserve is managed by the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders and maintained by Mantua Township, offering a natural landscape shaped by ecological recovery rather than human development.
