About Cave Rock - Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park
Cave Rock, located along the southeastern shore of Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada, features a boat launch with a double ramp and over 40 trailer parking spaces. A small beach at the park’s south end allows swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, and launching canoes or kayaks. The steep, rocky shoreline is ideal for fishing, though fishing is prohibited on the beach and in the boat ramp area. Three picnic areas with tables and barbecue pits are available—one by the beach, one across from the restroom, and one at the north end near the boat ramp.
Access to the Cave Rock Trailhead is not from within the park; it is located across the highway, approximately one-quarter mile up Cave Rock Drive. All motorized watercraft must undergo mandatory inspections to prevent the spread of invasive species like Quagga and Zebra mussels. Disturbing or removing any natural or historic features is prohibited under state and federal law.
