About Clark's Lookout State Park

Clark's Lookout State Park, located 1 mile north of Dillon off Highway 91, sits above the Beaverhead River and marks the site where Captain William Clark climbed on August 13, 1805, to survey the expedition’s route ahead. Interpretive signs along the short trail to the summit explain the navigational methods used by Lewis and Clark, and the top features a monument displaying the three compass readings Clark recorded that day, offering a panoramic view of the Beaverhead Valley.
