About Prophetstown

Prophetstown State Park, located on the south bank of the Rock River within the city limits of Prophetstown in Whiteside County, is a 53-acre site with historical significance as the former location of a Native American village named after the prophet Wa-bo-kie-shiek. The park was established in 1947 through legislation by State Rep. George S. Brydia and officially dedicated by Governor William G. Stratton on September 18, 1953.

Accessible via I-80 or I-88 by exiting onto IL Route 78 and following directional signs, the park lies just south of the Rock River and offers scenic views and recreational opportunities within a historically meaningful landscape.
