About James H. "Sloppy" Floyd State Park

James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park is located in northwest Georgia, surrounded by rural countryside and the Chattahoochee National Forest in the geologically significant Ridge and Valley region. The park features two stocked lakes for fishing, hiking trails including the Marble Mine Trail that leads to an old marble mine and a small waterfall, and a lake loop trail. The Pinhoti Trail is accessible via a 1.6-mile hike from the park. Visitors can relax on swings, watch for bluebirds, and feed ducks from the lake’s boardwalk.

The park offers a small campground and four cottages nestled on tree-covered hillsides, along with a playground for children and pedal boat rentals. Named for former Georgia House Representative James H. “Sloppy” Floyd, who served from 1953 to 1974, the park charges a daily ParkPass fee per vehicle for overnight guests, valid for the duration of their stay. Parking is not included with reservations.
